Lisa Whatcott grew up in San Diego and moved to Utah in 1991 to study music at Brigham Young University, where she earned two music degrees in 1997 and 2000. She served a Spanish-speaking mission in McAllen, Texas, in the mid-1990s and is delighted to see a temple now serving that area.
A charter member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, Lisa has also performed with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square since 1999. She maintains a home studio of more than 40 flute and piano students.
Music runs deep in her family—her grandfather played with several renowned big bands in the late 1930s. Lisa carries on that legacy as a vocalist with Lindy and the Hops, performing classic big band favorites. The group frequently appears as guest artists with Tad Calcara’s New Deal Swing Orchestra and the Excellence in the Community concert series.
Lisa lives in Spanish Fork with her husband and three children. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, spending time with family, and watching historical documentaries.
